Bright & Bold Lipstick Colors for the Summer

The newest trending sensation for the summer is going to be beautifully bright and bold lipstick colors. Expect to see the traditional reds, corals, pinks and even the unexpected blues, yellows, and oranges.

If you're looking for budget friendly shades Maybelline Color Sensation makes a great variety of reds, corals and pinks. For the more non-traditional shades like this bright orange below you're going to want to head to your local Sephora or MAC store.

The key to pulling off this look is to keep it simple, the less eye makeup the better, tone down the blush, and keep the focal point on the lips. This model below has a beautiful shade of Coral with only a slight hint of blush to match.

Another important tip is to make sure you exfoliate your lips before applying a bold color lips stick. I like to use the good old wet toothbrush trick.

If you have fair skin don't be afraid of Purple and Fuscia shades, as you can see it looks great on multiple shades of skin.

And lets not forget the easiest and most flattering to pull off the bright pink!

Just base the shade of off your undertones. I like the jewelry test. Place a gold and silver necklace against yourself in the mirror. If silver looks best you have cool undertones and want to look for shades with a hint of blue. If gold looks best you have warm undertones and want to look for hints of yellow think autumn colors. For a really great article on your skins undertones just click here! Dependent on whether you're cool or warm sticking to the shades below should help you find your perfect match!

Cool                           Warm

So I've determined I may actually be on the cool end although I always thought I had warm undertones. But after the jewelry test I thought the silver was more flattering. The lipstick I chose was Maybellines "are you ready". Don't forget that red shades make your teeth appear incredibly white. I've always had pretty white teeth but in the picture below they are just gleaming!
