When shopping for your favorite face wash, lotion, or conditioner its often hard to decipher all the ingredients. Just because an items expensive doesn't mean its the best so its important to know what ingredients are the most important to look for in your products. You'll also want to remember that ingredients listed first are whats found most in the product. You want these ingredients to be listed closer to the beginning rather than the end. For example lets start with our first ingredient Glycerin. If glycerin is one of the last ingredients then their is very little in your product and it's not worth purchasing. Just because a product boasts that it contains great ingredients doesn't mean there is a large amount, it could actually be very little and this is something most companies do to deceive the buyer and mark up the costs of their products. So here are some important ingredients to look for during your next trip to the drug store.

                                           Glycerin

glycerin is a natural hummectin which means it retains water and adds moisture to your skin. Most soaps naturally have glycerin in them, however  to increase profits many soap companies actually remove the glycerin and sell it separately. When buying soap always chose one that contains glycerin to avoid dry skin. You can even try making your own soaps which is actually so much easier than it seems.

www.brambleberry.com is a great site for buying kits to make your own soaps, they are so simple just microwave, add your favorite ingredients, and let cool. You can infuse your soaps with tea tree to fight acne, walnut shells to exfoliate, and even coffee to fight cellulite. The possibilities are endless and you're skin will notice a huge difference.

Hyaluronic Acid

This ingredient sounds harsh, but it is the complete opposite. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1000x its weight in water. This means it not only moisturizes your skin, but also plumps it reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Juviderm is actually a synthetic version of Hyaluroic Acid.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's)

Alpha Hydroxy Acids are most commonly recognized as AHA's, Glycolic Acids, and Lactic Acids. Products containing these acids are amazing at exfoliating dead skin cells, smoothing the skin, and diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. They are also excellent for people who suffer from acne on their bodies, especially those tiny bumps behind the arms and on legs.  Please take note however that because these products are exfoliating your skin, please take caution from over exposure to the sun as your skin will be sensitive.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary Oil is excellent for your hair care products. It stimulates your scalp encouraging hair growth and is a key ingredient to look for if you're looking to thicken your hair or have thinning hair. If you cant find a great shampoo that contains Rosemary Oil, buy pure Rosemary Essential Oil and add it to your shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner. If you are a brunette you can also boil rosemary herbs and use the liquid as a rinse before you leave the shower, it will have the same great effects and add amazing shine to your hair.

Caffeine

If you're suffering from puff under eye circles, you want to look for caffeine in your eye creams. Caffeine is known for helping to reduce puffiness and inflammation. There have also been studies showing caffeine to reduce the appearance of cellulite by 17%. If you're looking for an exfoliator try using coffee grounds in the shower.
